Haze & Speed Trap

While I was driving to Kulim this morning, I was wondering… in such thick haze.. does the Speed Trap Guns still function well? Can they operate in thick hazy condition.  One thing for sure is that when there are thick haze, the visibility is very low, because the light penetration is very low.  For Speed Trap guns that works on the Infra Red technology, there is a possibility that these guns may not function well, or most likely, the distance from where the guns operate may be reduced to from several KM to just < 1KM.  But bottom line is, the guns may still operate, it is just a matter of distance.  For radar speed trap guns, we know that atmospheric distortion such as clouds, water particles, etc, can distort radar.  So, can thick haze distort radar as well? There is a possibility.  Again, most likely, the distance for this type of gun to operate may be very well reduced.  But it is still operational.  So, the conclusion for myself is that, the cops are still able to catch people who speed in very thick haze condition.  It is just that if in the past, they are sitting a few KM away from the subject, now they have to sit very much closer.  Nervertheless, as long as the Post Malaysia still works in thick haze condition, you can still receive your saman through mail.   Hehehe…
